Hello from Caroline @ Virtually Sorted
Jenny asked me to do a quick introduction on here letting you know a little bit about who I am and what I do. I’ll regularly be contributing to the blog and updating you on all that is new in the world of outsourcing and virtual assistance.
So who is Caroline? With a background in the music and advertising industries, my career has been rather varied. I managed departments, had pens thrown at me by mad creatives and spent many long hours trying to explain why even though I too hated the Manic Street Preachers, they would be perfect for an advert.
After 10 years working in London and Glasgow, I decided to escape climbing the corporate ladder and launched into entrepreneur mode to challenge myself and avoid wearing a suit every day.
www.VirtuallySorted.com works with over 40 clients throughout the UK, served by a pool of assistants who perform call answering, audio typing, bookkeeping, telesales, marketing and general PA tasks. Unusually, I really embrace the virtual lifestyle by living and working between Glasgow and London, balancing spending time with my family in Glasgow and my new husband Craig in London – along my well-travelled Burmese cat, Lottie!
As virtual assistance was a fledgling industry in the UK in 2004 when I started, I collaborated with a number of Scottish virtual assistants to educate businesses about virtual working. It rapidly grew to include many virtual assistants from outside Scotland, which prompted a name change in 2006 and the almost accidental creation of www.societyofvirtualassistants.co.uk, a free organisation which helps VAs in the UK.
The business continues to grow and I love my somewhat hectic and unusual lifestyle which simply would be impossible without the invention of the internet. I’m pleased to say I now wear jeans to the office everyday and have never ever had to listen to the Manic Street Preachers ever again!
